So About That Rapture . . .
I guess Jesus decided to call the whole thing off at the last minute, in a manner presumably similar to a twelve year old trying to throw a surprise party and giving up because "you totally spoiled the surprise, you jerk!" right before kicking Harold Whats-his-name in the shins and running off.

On another topic, God it's weird to be back. I'm pretty sure I would have run out of words on Facebook by now, and it's making me surprisingly happy that I can rabbit on for (mostly) as long as I like. Also, wouldn't it totally be something-like-irony-but-not-quite if I started up my LJ again and then the Rapture happened?

Okay, what's new in my life . . . well, what isn't? Found out I liked girls (or rather, one particular girl, who may be joining Lifejournal in her own time), moved out of the spare room of my BFF, had a massive blowing out with aforementioned BFF (very long, very tedious story about cutting and attention-seeking behaviours, just pretend I whined in your ear for an hour about Histrionic Personality Disorder) and moved into a gorgeous one-bedroom flat with also aforementioned girlfriend. It's so beautiful -we're one of eight different flats that used to be an old homestead, but got divided up into individual spaces. I love Old Queenslanders so much.

Fandom-wise, I'm kinda obsessed with Final Fantasy VII, especially since I've gotten massively into cosplay (can't remember if that happened before or after I lost internet). I'm the photographer for the Cosplay Brigade and all the pictures here without a watermark were taken by yours truly. (That's the GF's Devianart, tell me what you think of her Reno ;D)

I have a feeling this is kinda a convoluted mess of an info-dump, but all I can do is throw myself on the mercy of the court and promise that I'll get back in the swing, eventually . . . And also, that I intend to finish the Twilight MST, I swear. I refuse to leave that beast un-assailed. Hopefully, hating Twilight hasn't become obsolete just yet ^^;

So how's y'all doin'? Seriously though, what's been happening with everyone? How're all your fandoms doing? And . . . *looks down* Wait, how're you supposed to repost to Twitter? In a million 140-character chunks? New LJ is going to take some getting used to, methinks.

Oh, does that mean you're dating her? Awesome.

I'm currently fanning over The Social Network, so my blog shouldn't be too confusing if you see squealing and caps about that...

I think it's a link across to Twitter? So it might grab the title and then link- I don't know, I don't want to share my lj with twitter, haha.

We've been dating for almost a year now, although our official anniversary isn't until November. Her mum insisted we wait to date, so we . . . "waited".

I don't use Twitter. Like, at all. I don't know, I just think it's very useful for anything except short bursts of humour.

So are we still friends? ;-)

Of course! How's everything with you and yours?

Hello! Nice to see you again!

I'm glad you're at a happy place right now (and your flat sounds gorgeous).

In terms of my lj, I'm largely re-enacting 'All Quiet's on the Western Front'. I don't post very often these days but I often stalk people on my flist silently and randomly comment (like so). :P

I'm very much into Castiel from 'Supernatural' atm, and still very much love Who obviously (I spent all summer basically listening to almost every Who audio ever). :D

I also enjoy 'White Collar' and 'Merlin' but I'm not active any, well, any fandoms. (Largely as uni has consumed my life. I got into Med last year and often wonder why this is my life when preparing for my third presentation in a week...) :P

I've never touched Twitter except to research the hilarious Misha Collins. :P

140 chunks are good for humour, I imagine, but I'm not sure if they're good for much else. :P

But enough rambling! It's lovely to see you back! :D

*HUGS GIANTLY*

I'm really grateful to be in such a good place (physically and mentally). It's been a rough half-year, but everything happens for a reason and all those other platitudes. I love my house and my girlfriend and my landlord and even all the Kirin bottles by the computer (the GF likes Japanese beer ;D)

It's great to be back! *is hugged giantly*

Pfft. All you peoples just don't "get" Twitter. But that's fine; it's not for everyone.

Anyway. Hiiiii!

Me, I've moved back to California after a year and a half of rooming in Minnesota with loveslashangst & her hubby. And I've been accepted to grad school to pursue a Master's in counselling psychology. Have a job lined up here in Cali, but still waiting on paperwork to finish processing. *impatient and VERY broke*

Still doing freelance editing for Uncommon Knowledge (can't remember if I started that before or after you and I last talked), which is pretty awesome. The Directors of the company were two of my three letters of recommendation for grad school.

Glad to see you again! Things are sounding really good for you. *huggles*

I'm so glad you have a job lined up for you -I'm unemployed and want to do psychology (still) but for fiscal and various other reasons, I've had to hold off until the beginning of next year.
I'm really nervous, since the homeschooling means my only OP comes from my TAFE courses and if that's not enough I'm very, very stuck *bites lip* How was it for you?

ButMadNNW ("ButMad" for short): Out of my mindbutmadnnw on May 25th, 2011 10:49 pm (UTC)
Yeah, it's a pizza delivery job, but at this point, any money is good money.

Um, what's OP?
Emmaemeryboard on May 26th, 2011 06:28 am (UTC)
An OP is the score you get on your final exam (the lower your number the better your score) that you need to get into certain courses. I get an automatic OP of 8 for doing my TAFE courses, which hopefully, will be enough to get me into Uni.

Ah. We don't really do it that way here in the States.

For this uni, I had to fill out an application, write a 3-4 page personal/autobiographical statement, get transcripts from my BA school & previous grad school (that I attended for 1 class), and have 3 professional psychologists (people currently working or teaching in therapy) send in recommendations.

What's that whole Rapture business about? Was it scheduled to happen recently? Sorry, if that sounds totally ignorant, but I'm genuinely curious. No word of any Rapture has found its way underneath my rock ;-)

Yeah and congrats on your relationship! Never understood romantic feelings myself (like most people with autism), but I'm still happy for those who enjoy them, if that makes any sense.

Not much new in my life. I changed my master's degree subject from 'science and society' to 'pharmaceutical science' and am really happy with that. I stopped working at the school, except to fill in case of emergency and decided to focus full-time on my studies and on my health.

Fandom wise, I'm all over the place. I've drifted away from Who a bit, although I'm sure I'll drift back one day, just as I came back to Star Trek after years of absence. Currently, I'm writing stories for Sherlock (you know, the BBC modern dress Sherlock Holmes), the new Hawaii 5-0 and I Spy. Maybe I'll even finish one of them ;-)
Emmaemeryboard on May 24th, 2011 12:58 am (UTC)
Some guy in California went on the radio saying the Rapture would happen last Saturday, 6pm. I remember hearing about a man who gave the preacher his life savings (about $140,000) to put up billboards and ads on buses etc to warn people. I don't think many people took it seriously, but it made a bit of a buzz as such things tend to do.

We're really happy together, and thanks so much for the congrats :D

I've kinda detached from Who, if only because Old School just seems much better to my (admittedly biased) mind. I ADORE Sherlock, and I'd love to read anything you finish on the fandom!

Happy to hear you've moved into a place of your own! And it sounds lovely. Also very glad to hear you've found someone to call your own! I wish you a very long and loving relationship.

As for me, I've been trying my damnedest (and failing) to stay away from fandom until I have finished writing my book. Now, about 75,000 words in and with maybe 25% of the actual story left to tell, I admit to indulging in fandom again, largely Hetalia fandom (because I love world history and damn it they can make the freaking Cold War sound charged with UST =P).

I rarely post on livejournal these days except for the two or three times I have posted fic these past couple of years. I am most on Facebook now, and I would LOVE to be able to friend you there! If you are interested, just send a request to Talisha Hibdon. ^_~

My girlfriend is wonderful. You know, smart and clever and cute and smart and adorable and all those other things that infatuated partners go on about ;-D

You're writing a book? OMG, details! What's it about?

Friend invite sent!

LOL Is it too late answer this post?

Actually, I am going to be making some kind of blog/group/community/whatever where I am going to serialize the first half of the book in an attempt to garner attention and motivational reviews. Shall I send you a link once it is up and running?

It is essentially a young adult LGBT romance featuring - you guessed it - VAMPIRES! How original! =P But seriously, I am doing it all ironically as I am attempting to subtly critique the whole genre, and in particular Twilight. There are certain characters in there that are clear parodies and cliches.

Actually... you would be able to provide a monumental help to me if you were to beta this for me. I am nearing the end of the book, and could really use the input. especially considering your MST of Twilight provided the greatest inspiration for me to write this book.
